How it all started:

Floyd Gabriel, Olympic Printers inc.

Floyd Gabriel

Feb 9, 1932 - Dec 10, 2019

“I’m Fantastic and I Look Good Too!”

Floyd was a man of vision, character, and exceptional wit. He spent many years working in Seattle, honing his craft and building his experience in the printing industry while employed at Trick & Murray. It was there that he developed the skills and insight that would later serve as the foundation for his own business. But Floyd was not one to stay still for long. In 1978, with a spirit of adventure and determination, he made the life-changing decision to relocate to Port Angeles, Washington.

That same year, Floyd purchased Olympic Printers and opened its first location in the heart of downtown Port Angeles. With a strong work ethic and a genuine love for the craft, he quickly turned Olympic Printers into a cornerstone of the local business community. The shop provided high-quality commercial printing services, catering to both small businesses and large organizations across the Olympic Peninsula and the Puget Sound region.

Olympic Printers wasn't just a print shop—it became a trusted partner to countless local enterprises, nonprofits, schools, and government agencies. Under Floyd’s leadership, the business earned a reputation for excellence, reliability, and a personal touch that made every customer feel valued. Floyd believed that printing wasn’t just about ink on paper—it was about helping people tell their stories, grow their businesses, and share their ideas with the world.

As demand increased and printing technology advanced, Olympic Printers outgrew its original location. In 1989, Floyd made the strategic decision to move the shop to a larger facility. This expansion allowed the business to invest in more advanced printing presses and equipment, streamlining operations and opening new opportunities. The move marked a new chapter for Olympic Printers, cementing its place as a competitive force in the commercial printing industry throughout Washington State.

More than just a business owner, Floyd was a pillar of the community. His honesty, humor, and heartfelt kindness made a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Whether he was helping a customer meet a tight deadline or sharing a joke to brighten someone’s day, Floyd had a way of making people feel seen and appreciated.

Floyd passed away in 2019, leaving behind a powerful legacy that lives on through the business he built and the community he helped shape. He is truly missed by family, friends, customers, and colleagues alike. To this day, the spirit of Olympic Printers reflects Floyd’s values: integrity, quality, service, and a healthy dose of good humor.

His story reminds us that great businesses aren’t just built on products—they’re built on people.

Mike Gabriel

Puget Sound Sales & Owner

Mike is the go-to for a personable, reliable, and dedicated sales experience. More than your average traveling salesman, his clients span the Puget Sound region and beyond, and he brings the print experience to find solutions for any challenging project.

In a world that’s becoming more automated and impersonal, Mike stands out by keeping things genuine. He takes the time to get to know each customer, understand their needs, and offer thoughtful solutions — not just quick fixes. It might feel a little old-fashioned, but that’s exactly why people trust him.

His customers know him by name and trust that he’ll go the extra mile to make sure everything is done right — whether that’s tracking down specific products, meeting tight deadlines, or simply checking in to ensure everything went smoothly.

Outside of work, Mike enjoys travel, hiking, motorcycle rides,  boating, and walking his dog. His favorite weekend getaway is Winthrop.

When you work with Mike, you’re not just getting a sales rep — you’re getting someone who truly cares about your success and treats your business like his own.
